Things Cats Take Seriously

February 1, 2019
Cats are very amusing little furballs. Actually, you could almost say that keeping us entertained is Fluffy’s main job, aside from just looking cute. However, being a kitty is serious business, as far as our feline friends are concerned. In this article, a Frisco, TX vet lists some things cats don’t take lightly.

Grooming

One great thing about cats is the fact that they are so clean. Fluffy may spend hours diligently grooming herself, and keeping her fur soft and shiny. That doesn’t mean your kitty can’t use a little help, though: regular brushings are always beneficial.

Beauty Sleep

Cats are very, very dedicated to keeping up their napping routines. Some kitties can sleep as much as 20 hours a day, though most settle for a mere 14 to 16. Offer Fluffy lots of beds and napping spots to choose from for her morning, mid-morning, noon, afternoon, and evening naps.

Hiding From Danger

You may have heard that both people and animals usually react to perceived threats in one of two ways: they fight or they flee. When it comes to Fight or Flight, most kitties default to the latter. Your pet may very well hightail it out of the room if something startles her.

Hunting

When we first became friends with Fluffy, we prized her for her hunting prowess. Kitties kept our homes and farms free of rodents and vermin, and were rewarded with cuddles, food, shelter, warm laps, toys, treats, and cat furniture. (This worked out pretty well for Fluffy.) Your cute pet may never actually hunt anything other than a fuzzy slipper or a dust bunny, but she’ll still take her ‘hunting’ duties very seriously.

Sunbathing

Have you ever noticed that cats spend a lot of time dozing in sunbeams? Fluffy doesn’t actually run on solar power, but she is very diligent about her sunbathing sessions.

Cuddle Time

Cats can be pretty insistent about snuggle time. Fluffy may repeatedly hop into your lap or rub herself against your legs to demand attention right meow. Some kitties even jump into their owners’ arms when they want to be held, and will immediately start their motors when you pet them. This isn’t a bad thing: purring cats are one of life’s smallest—but most adorable—treasures. As your local vet Frisco, TX clinic, we are dedicated to offering great pet care.
